iZ3D 3D Monitor Trial Program
This is another thing that you guys may or may not be interested in, but the guys over at
iZ3D
are friends of ours, and they're running a trial program for potential users that I thought you guys might be interested in.
Obviously, the idea of a 3D monitor is really cool. But the problem is that unless you can actually see one in
person
, then you really have no idea if they're worth the money. I can't show you a
picture
of a 3D monitor and have it make any sense, because you're seeing it on your regular 2D monitor.
So to get around this, iZ3D is doing a Research Project—they're basically letting a certain number of people test one of their 3D monitors to play WoW on for 2 weeks, and then give some feedback on playing the game. Basically you guys get to test the monitor out and
actually
see what it's like to play WoW in 3D.
Here are the details:
They're giving iZ3D Monitors to project participants for 2 weeks.
Everybody who's interested is going to fill out a survey, and 20 participants will be chosen from the survey entrants.
The selected participants will receive an iZ3

Aaaaand We're Back!
So I have difficulty imagining you haven't noticed, but for those of you who haven't: the blog has been a little slow lately! I'm embarrassed to let the guys publish a WWR this week, because the blog section of the listing will show...exactly
nothing
. :(
Now I can of course sit here and make a lot of excuses (I've been busy! Between moving and Blizzcon, and a death in the family, this is the first week since June that I've slept 4 nights in the same bed!)...but it's not excuses you want, it's blogs!
I have some editorial stuff coming next week that I'm pretty excited about, and that I should have some time to put my thoughts on paper now that I'm settle into the new place. But first...a

Our sister site
ZAM.com
has arranged a contest with Flying Lab Software, publishers of

Cataclysm Stat Revamps—GC Nerfs EVERYTHING!
So I'm going to go through and list some of the crazy changes that are being made to itemization here. I'll be elaborating more on this later, but here's the basic rundown:
Edit:
Because there seems to be some confusion: These changes are proposed changes to come with the next WoW expansion, called Cataclysm. These are still a long way off. When they come, they will also come with a complete revamp of existing gear, as well as a total reconstruction not just of the quests that lead you through the original zones, but of the zones THEMSELVES. Thousand Needles is being flooded. The Barrens is being split into two zones. Desolace is green and growing. Azshara is a lowbie leveling zone. Zones are being condensed so you spend fewer levels in each one. So have no fear. Everything is changing, but it's all changing TOGETHER. The whole game is getting redesigned for the new expansion—check out all the details on how in our
Recap
!
But in the meantime, let's take a look at the stat changes coming in the expansion!

Cataclysm Officially Announced!
So here's the rough run-down. It's pretty much as it was leaked, but here's the interesting stuff I thought:
Guild levelling, and Guild achievements
New Character Progression: "Path of the Titans". Not sure what this means.
New Secondary Skill: Archaeology
Rated Battlegrounds
Heroic Classic Instances: Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep
So it looks like everything MMO-Champion had was correct, but apparently Blizzard still managed to keep a FEW secrets. :)
The goblin lore looks interesting. It seems like the Horde Goblins will be a splinter group of island-faring goblins—similar to the Darkspear trolls—that were forced off their island by the incoming Cataclysm, and have fallen in with the Horde. It's possible, we'll have to see. :)
The full details are up on the World of Warcraft site here:

Stay tuned for the next blog, when we hit up the preview panel!

BlizzCon 2009 Fansite Summit!
So for those of you who don't know, this year (like last year) Blizzard is hosting an exclusive Community Summit for their official Fansites—like us. It's a pretty exclusive thing—only one representative from each site is allowed to attend, and this year it just happens to be me!
Now Blizzard is very particular about what we're allowed to show you and what we're not, but nonetheless I'll be putting on my journalism hat and taking pictures (where possible) with my terrible iPhone camera, and as I get the opportunity I'll be adding content to this blog post!
All of the coverage and updates will be after the break. In addition, don't forget to follow us on
Twitter
, since we may be able to get information up there before I can reach a computer and get it up on this blog post.

New Expansion Info on MMO-Champion!
MMO-Champion
has just posted an announcement with all of the currently known information about the upcoming expansion:
World of Warcraft - Cataclysm!
This information
is
considered speculation, as it has not been officially confirmed by Blizzard, but Boubouille at MMO-Champion doesn't usually post something unless he's pretty sure and so far he's rarely been wrong. Some of the recently-gathered information includes: the new
level cap
(you'll be surprised!), as well as new
race/class combinations
!

Thoughts?
Do you think this is going to be the big announcement Blizzard plans on releasing at Blizzcon 2009?

The Return of Onyxia—Patch 3.2.2
That's right—
Onyxia
will be making her return in Patch 3.2.2, scheduled to be released in honor of World of Warcraft's fifth anniversary!
To give you a basic rundown, Blizzard's plans are
Converting
Covil da Onyxia
into a level 80 raid, with both 10 and 25 man modes.
Changing the current loot to par with its level 60 version to a level 80 version. Presumably, there will be a loot table for both 10 and 25 man modes.
Adding a flying mount with 310% flying speed named
Rédeas do Draco Onyxiano
to the loot table. Modeled after Onyxia itself, the mount is expected to have a low drop rate.
Changing to the level of difficulty so that it scales from its difficulty at level 60 to level 80. This means those who enjoyed Onyxia's challenge should not see a change in difficulty—essentially, it just scales up to level 80!
But that's not all! Once the fifth anniversary of WoW begins, players who log on during this time will receive a limited edition pet named , similar to how players who logged on during the fourth anniversary received a
Urso Bebê da Blizzard
!

Ozzy Osbourne Rocks Blizzcon
Hail, brothers and sisters! If you are reading this, you are either just curious about what's going on (which is fine), or you have the fiery blood of one who listens to rock and metal. Which is even better for this announcement, for you are about to receive a grand facemelt.
Remember the Tauren Chieftains? Also known as Level 60 Elite Tauren Chieftains and L70ETC? The guys that show up at Blizzcon every now and then and perform a WoW-themed rock song like
I am Murloc!
? Well, if you liked them, chances you are going to like this - Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness, one who
challenged the Lich King
himself for that title... This very man is going to perform live on Blizzcon 2009! Links below, full announcement - after the break, as usual.

Official 3.2 Thread!
Double Edit:
That'll teach me to try going out to dinner on patch day! Blizzard has
confirmed
that faction restrictions on PvP servers have been removed, apparently as part of their transition into offering a
Faction Change
service. The post is here:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=19110291048&sid=1
Edit:
So an interesting article on
WoW.com
indicates that faction restrictions on pvp servers are currently disabled, and users can now create characters of any faction on a pvp server, no matter what characters they already have. No word yet on whether this is intentional—it certainly isn't in the patch notes.
So here's the official thread, y'all! 3.2 is today!
Here then, is a centralized location—to discuss changes, express your irritation at the nerfs, or to rail at Blizzard for not being able to get their serve

Priest Q&A with Ghostcrawler
It looks like
Illidan Stormrage
was
right—I am not prepared! Who would have guessed Blizzard would release two Q&As in one day? ;)
One of my favorite parts of the interview is that Blizzard's considering removing the "backlash" from
if the target is within "
" range. The other part is that Blizzard wants to make Shadow talents that improve the overall damage of Shadow Priests, so that their damage is not penalized in cases where DoTs are useless. But enough chit-chat—let's get to the interview!
You can read the entire interview after the break, or read the original one linked below:
