Dalaran in Legion City Spotlight
20/6/2016 em 12:01
Dalaran is the main city in Legion, and it has seen many improvements since it's time in Northrend's Crystalsong Forest. For those who played during Wrath of the Lich King, Dalaran was also the main city then as well. Fond memories of hanging out in front of the banks or the well, running laps around the city, hearing "Citizens of Dalaran!" whenever a group killed Algalon. In Legion, Dalaran moves to the outskirts of the Broken Isles and will be a main hub for the main storyline.
Just like many things coming to Legion, even the main city isn't safe from the polishing and rearrangements of shops, new construction, as well as some damage from demons. In this post, we've gone over just a few of the changes in Dalaran with side-by-side comparisons of its older counterpart.
The "Threads of Fate" used to be a shirt and clothing shop; it has now been turned into a gallery with paintings.
Across from there, "Sister Sorcerous," a shop that sold mainly Mage items, has now had new shop owners that moved in and redecorated.
"Simply Enchanting," the Enchanters shop, has been updated as well with items, crystals, and even the colorful disenchanted dust on the floor.
"The Legermain Lounge" has also been updated to feel a bit less empty and with new furnishings and a coffee machine added.
Outside the "Magical Menagerie," Mei Francis still sells mounts but seems as though Breanni wanted some space for a shiny new pet related statue.
These are just a few shops that have been updated. All the shops in Dalaran have been updated to look much less empty and much more polished. Comparing the two, it really does feel more so now that Dalaran City is a bustling city with NPCs and players that run in and out of these shops with random dialogues from time to time.
New Construction & Desconstruction
Runeweavers Square in the very center of Dalaran has been completely changed. No longer does it house the statue honoring the heroes that defeated the Lich King. That time has come and gone. It now is a place where players can use it to teleport to a room that will house the Pillars of Creation. Some players have noted similarities between this room and the Dalaran room from the Warcraft movie.
Some areas in Dalaran have received a bit of damage from Legion attacks, this area as well you can see a pet cemetery has also been added behind the normal cemetery.
The flightpath area has also had a bit of damage done to it. The flight master has moved off to the side to make room for the various fleets of people you will encounter in this area.
The Mage portal room has been spruced up a bit as well.
Archmage Antonidas has been polished up a bit and the area has had much more foliage added.
The statue in front of the Alliance bank, that we only ever noticed when Rhonin did his speech, has been resculpted in his memory.
Some changes are subtle such as the Antonidas statue area, but the little touches here and there for particular places make Dalaran feel much more alive and something that has grown over time. Even NPCs that you normally wouldn't pay attention to such as Windle Sparkshine has changed due to the harsh times that have past.
Subtle Outdoor Visual Updates
Dalaran's iconic tower seems at first to remain untouched but you can still see subtle updates if you look closely.
Before entering Violet Hold, you see the flags have also been updated, and even the floor and walls look more polished.
The Alliance area has had its flags updated along with the flagposts and the guards.
The Horde-side flags and guards were also updated.
Aerith has gotten a shiny new flower cart filled with flowers and a new companion.
A few changes are hard to notice at first because they are so subtle but they still do their job in making Dalaran feel new and updated but still not 100% changed. They want this place to not only feel familiar but also new and changed with the times.
The Underbelly has not gone untouched in Legion. The moment you enter it, you see some things have been changed and moved around. The side entrances have been pushed up.
"The Black Market" now actually houses the Black Market Auction house as well as new vendors.
The Arena and Battlegrounds shop has been completely changed.
The building across from there has also been completely redone and a much larger area behind that has been reconstructed.
This entire area is now a World PvP area--bribe the guards to go off-duty and create some mayhem.
The Underbelly used to have 2 tunnel areas you would enter in. In Legion it still has the same 2 entrances but the back one by the cemetery now leads you to the back of the building in the last picture. The Cantrips & Crows area along with the area players used to fish up the Giant Sewer Rat is now walled off and made for the Rogues Order Hall.
