Following in the footsteps of their
Shaman brethren
, a group of 40 Alliance Druids from the Zandalar Tribe (EU RP-PvP) server attempted Molten Core yesterday and hilarity ensued. Unfortunately we can only say attempted, because they didn't see a whole lot of success, but the attempt alone was fun enough to warrant highlighting. Described as a
horror show of starfire and moonfire spam
, the group contained an unprecedented 25 Balance Druids, along with 40 innervates, 40 battle resurrections, and
Espírito de Fogo-fátuo
, which may have been more useful than the rest combined. Truly the most impressive achievement might be that they managed to get 25 Moonkins together in one raid!
Although Lucifron was taken out after just three attempts of sorting out their strategy, Magmadar feasted on roast chicken while only going down to around 66%. Gehennas proved much easier for the group, requiring only one attempt, but Garr went awry at around 50% after their add tank unexpectedly died, allowing the Firesworn adds to quickly decimate the raid. Suffering from broken gear, respawning trash, and a lack of healers, the raid was called after a few hours, though the group pledged to learn from their attempts and try again, as well as brainstorming future events such as all Moonkin battlegrounds.
The raid was streamed on twitch by event organizer and leader of the Alliance guild <RAW>,
skinwalkertv
. A raiding Moonkin main, he's
spoken out
against naysayers who try to admonish his choice of specialization, and it certainly hasn't held his guild back from clearing all of the current content. In a game where some players rage against inefficiency, seemingly content to log on, clear their weekly raids as quickly as possible, and log off for the rest of the week, it can be easy to forget that everyone has their own sense of fun, and for some that may be more important than competitiveness. We've seen many of these self-imposed community challenges recently, on both Classic and the modern versions of the game, attempting raids with groups made up of
specific classes
,
tanks
, and even finding creative ways to
one-shot bosses
. Community driven events such as these show that there are players dedicated to trying something different and enjoying the game their way, even if it doesn't always succeed!
This poor Horde player showed up in the wrong place at the wrong time!
