World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft® subscriptions remained relatively stable, ending the quarter at 5.5 million subscribers. Players are excited about the upcoming expansion, Legion™, which will feature a new class, customizable Artifact weapons, class order halls, and much more. World of Warcraft remains the No. 1 subscription‐based MMORPG in the world.
Warcraft is down 100k subscribers from
, which is a small loss after the dramatic losses earlier in Warlords of Draenor.
Blizzard has confirmed to
that this is the final time they will release subscriber numbers:
"Note that this is the last quarter that we plan to provide subscriber numbers," the company said. "There are other metrics that are better indicators of the overall Blizzard business performance."
Instead, Activision Blizzard will use other unspecified "engagement" metrics to talk about the health of WoW. These were not detailed during the earnings call where the announcement was made on November 3.

On August 24, 2015, Blizzard Entertainment launched The Grand Tournament™, the second expansion for Hearthstone®: Heroes of Warcraft™, with over 130 new cards. As a result of this new content, continued strength on mobile, and continued strength across geographies, key engagement metrics grew 77% year-over-year and set a new quarterly revenue record for the franchise.
Blizzard Entertainment brought new players into Heroes of the Storm™ with the release of The Eternal Conflict, a series of content and hero additions based on the Diablo® universe. Blizzard also held the Heroes of the Storm regional championships as part of its Road to BlizzCon® esports series, including the Americas Championship in Las Vegas and the Europe Championship in Prague.
Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo III continued to bring in new players in Q3, and in China, the game passed the 2-million-unit milestone.
Blizzard Entertainment began closed beta testing for Overwatch™ on October 27, 2015, with over 7 million players signed-up to participate, not including China.
Blizzard is trying to narrow down the list of questions asked at BlizzCon for the Q&A Panel at 2:30-3:30pm, Saturday, November 7th.

Are there any plans to improve guilds, such as guild housing or guild quests?
Will the achievement to unlock flying in Legion be fully completeable at launch?
How will faction reputation be gained in Legion? Will there be multiple routes to exalted?
Will you keep treasures as a part of the leveling experience?
With most players having several characters, will you introduce catch-up mechanisms for alts besides gearing up, like speeding up reputation gains?
Will Garrison Treasure Hunt missions still be available?

Will there be a money-making mechanism similar to follower missions/salvage yards in Legion, or will we have to return to the Auction House (and player interaction) as the primary way to generate wealth?
How much did the work on the Garrisons and the new character models affect the overall scope of WoD? (ie: Did their complexity from an engineering standpoint force you to pour too many resources into them in order to get them ready for launch).
Is there any chance to allow certain items and armor to be sold to vendors so players can avoid having to destroy them instead (e.g., Hallow's End Wands and candy, PvP gloves from Baradin Hold)?
Will we see the spell "Mass summon" again? I haven't seen any groups for "For the Horde" or "For the Alliance" in a LONG TIME. Any plans to fix this?
Will the world change with the invasion of the Legion, for instance will Draenei/Blood Elf starting zones change?
Is there any chance we will see an event like the Battle for Undercity again in the future?
Will old gods feature in Legion in a major way?
Will we get any Alliance character development that does not result in death (RIP Taylor, Baros and Maraad) or staying in sandbox universe (Yrel)?
What happened to the trolls and goblins that were in Neltharion’s Lair during the War of the Ancients?
Suramar was abandoned during the war of the ancients and in ruins after it was overrun by demons. Where did the Nightborn come from?
The grove of Cenarius, where Malfurion studied druidism before the War of the Ancients, was close to Suramar. Is this the same as Val’sharah?
Will we have more lore on Forsaken, Tauren, Worgen and Gnomes?
How come in the book "The Sundering" Jarod Shadowsong could see the ruins of Suramar below Mount Hyal, and why didn't they rebuild it?
Huln "of the eagle spear" Highmountain's people gave aid to the Night Elves on Mount Hyjal after the sundering. How did they end up on the Broken Isles?
Malfurion, Illidan, Tyrande, Maiev and Jarod Shadowsong all used to live in Suramar. Why didn't they go back earlier (e.g. when the tomb of Sargeras was discovered in WC3)? Will we see them in Suramar during Legion?
Have the Sunreaver Blood Elves locked up in Violet Hold during the Purge of Dalaran been released?
Are Vereesa Windrunner's Silver Covenant High Elf forces still in Dalaran in Legion, or will they depart the city like Jaina Proudmoore?
Are you going to announce further details in to the Anduin story line within the creation of Legion, based on Velen's and Wrathion's visions?
Will we see more about Gilneas? Its society, organizations and more general info about the kingdom.
Will Karazhan be relevant on Legion?
Will the premonition/vision of Kilrogg become true? (East kingdoms being invaded by the Legion)
What happened to Alleria and Turalyon? If they are alive will we see them in Legion?
With Turalyon and Alleria returning with legion will Danath Trollbane finally leave that dingy keep in Outland to meet up with Khadgar and reform the Sons of Lothar?
Are we going to face Sargeras in this expansion pack? It would be cool if we meet other entities like Titan.
Can the lore community finally get a clear answer about the whole ONLY ONE burning legion transcending ALL REALITIES mentioned by Alex Afrasiabi? Was the Patch 6.2 Archimonde really the EXACT SAME Archimonde killed at the end of WC3?
Will the Alternate Universe heroes (particularly Yrel) make an appearance in Legion? We've seen nothing on them yet, but Yrel did say they'd be here to help when the time came...
Why is Xavius not working for N'Zoth? How exactly is N'Zoth responsible for the spark of the Emerald Nightmare?
Lore wise, any mention of Broxigar?! And his axe!
Since Warlocks will lose Metamorphosis on Legion, does that mean Warlocks are inferior to Demon Hunters as far as using Fel Magic goes?"
In Legion, are efforts being made to have more race specific lore? Dwarves and gnomes need love!
Knowing that their mission is to stop the Burning Legion, will we see a strong Draenei presence in Legion? Will they be active participants in the fight against Sargeras' minions?
Will Tyrande be brought into the spotlight at all, given the new ancient night elven group being brought up?
What year(s) in the Warcraft timeline do the launch of the Warlords of Draenor and Legion expansions fall into, with Mist of Pandaria having been year 30?
Where is Wrathion in Legion?
Do you plan to continue/finish the stories that began with the Cataclysm? Five years was enough to rebuild the damage caused in many zones.
Will we receive any hint or info about what's below Tirisfal Glades?
How are you going to prevent that multi-role classes like Tank/DD or Heal/DD will have significant disadvantages in upgrading Artifact weapons, like they have now with the Legendary ring?
Will there be more Class changes mid-expansion compared to Warlords of Draenor if needed?
For Warlords of Draenor the goal for tank dps was around 75% of a real dps spec. That seemed about right going in to Highmaul, but in BRF and HFC tanks fell behind. Any thoughts on this going into Legion?
Any chance more classes will get second specs like letting warlocks tank?
With the redesign of specs in Legion, do you plan to implement any sort of support spec (IE, some sort of spec which focuses on buffing and debuffing exclusively)?
With the new PvP talents, will old talents be re modified to fit more in PvE or will you have to choose between having PvE or PvP talents?
Are there going to be any more "cosmetic class quests"? Like Green Fire?
Will we ever get new race or race/class combos in a patch instead of in the beginning of an expansion? I think it would open up some story-telling options.
Some classes (like Monks) are able to dual wield, and use staves/etc. Are Artifact weapons in Legion going to lock people in to using one or the other, even though that particular weapon set might not be their favorite and/or aesthetically desirable?
With the class-to-armor divisions as they are, why was Demon Hunter put on Leather as opposed to Mail?
Why Make the Demon Hunter level so high to start with?...Seems a little odd to let people take 12 levels to learn the class...I mean DK's had a larger leveling time and people still didn't want a majority in their groups at the start... wont that make it worse for Demon Hunters?
Could we chat freely with an opposite faction in class halls?
Will the Class Halls be using any form of follower/menu game play similar to that of the Garrison/Shipyard? Is there anything from Garrisons that we can expect to make a similar or comparable comeback to Class Halls?
Will Class Halls be usable by characters under lvl100 providing help with leveling (like peak for monks in MoP)
Going along with the theme of "identity" in Legion, how will racial variations of classes be represented within the Class Halls (Sunwalkers, Blood Knights, Vindicators, Priests of the Loa, etc.)
Will the Class Order experience be tailored to the player's spec?
In what ways, if any, will Class Halls be prevented from making WoW into a heavy single player experience?
Will Legion bring more cosmetic armor sets like those from salvage/bunker (regardless of their source)?
Like in Warlords, will you move the Black Auction House to a new zone with Legion?
Will you bring back Reforging?
When are you planning to put a bad luck protection into the game for rare and sought after items, such as mounts and pets from old raids? Farming TK for Ashes for 3 years or more on multiple chars = not fun. Why not give an item with a 1% drop rate a guaranteed drop after 100 tries? Or increase the chance after each failed try.
What will happen to our Artifact weapons next expansion? Will we keep them or replace them by greens?
Some Tier items colors were only available on some modes (like LFR). Is there any plan to introduce an option to purchase them after new Tier sets are introduced?
In Warlords of Draenor Dungeons, bosses could drop multiple pieces of gear for the same armor slot, but with different secondary stats. How well did this system work out and will it be continued/expanded in Legion?
Some of the Artifact Weapons look like obvious choices, others we've not seen yet. What factors went into choosing some of the more obscure, less known weapons and how were they chosen for specs with little lore related to them?
Are you serious about no weapon drops at all in legion? Does that apply to ALL weapons, or just for epic weapons?
Will Artifact weapons be unlocked all within the first patch? or over the course of the expansion, also will they be gated like old valor (mop) or could you max it out in one day?
Is the Doomhammer that Enhancement Shaman players wield the version that Thrall had or the alternate Draenor version?
Why did you decide to remove multistrike, but apparently not versatility?
Will there be some more interesting raid mechanisms in Legion, such as chess event in Karazhan?
Will there be some vehicle fights in Legion? No vehicle fights since Wrath of the Lich King.
Will Legion have new Scenarios?
Any plans to expand Timewalking?
Any plans to make Raid Finder or Mythic raiding flex size?
Will be there more than one raid per tier in Legion?
Will we see a “classic” mode that allows us to play on the old version of dungeons/raids that have been remade like Onyxia?
Warlords of Draenor raids required a lot of flexibility. In particular, some bosses had to be done with 3 healers, whereas others with as many as 5. Any planned changes to make Legion raid rosters more stable?
Do you have any plans to make "smaller" raid dungeons? Casual players have a hard time trying to make time to join 7 boss or 10 boss raids like these days.
Is there a chance we will be seeing Hakkar the Houndmaster as a boss?
Will we be encountering the final expansion boss during the leveling experience and/or initial raids?
As you are planning a complete new PvP System without PvP gear, what kind of gear are we getting instead?
Are there any plans with Legion to even out the factions regarding PvP?
How many PvP prestige ranks are planned so far? If it's not specific yet then just an estimate, 10 or 50 or 1000?
Are there any plans to actively monitor and help under-performing specializations in PvP?
Will PvP talents and normal talents be active at the same time, and will you still be able to change them in arena?
Will the new PvP system take in account previous PvP progression/achievement done by a character/player?
Aside from Ashran, Warlords of Draenor didn't add much PvP-related content to the game. Will World PvP receive more attention with Legion?
Will Southstore vs Tarren Mill be back as a regular battleground?
With the upcoming change to PVP (changing to a prestige system), will we still earn honor points to spend on old honor vendors for transmog gear?
Will Player vs. Player content be addressed regularly in Legion through balancing changes, responsive gear changes, etc.?
Are there any plans on providing more cosmetic rewards for progressing up the PvP ladder other than just at 2200/2000 rating?
Could you talk about the new PvP system, you mentioned there's no more Conquest, which means there's no more "harder to earn PvP gear" but instead everyone will have an Honor bar to grind and prestige with, in that case, would Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds give more honor than Random Battlegrounds? Since there's no more Conquest.
Why is it that the High End Prestige from PvP disappears at the end of season, yet PvE rewards become more obtainable? IE R1 glad titles, glad mounts even the armor set goes away.
Will the class/spec PvP "templates" for balancing be different depending on the type of PvP (Arena versus RBGs for example)?
Will there be a tone down for burst damage in PvP?
Premade Groups made it a lot easier to find other players to do stuff with right now, but it doesn't help you getting friends in game. Are you looking into making it easier to plan events with strangers, similar to how OpenRaid works, or some other way to find like-minded players?
Inventory, are we to reach an updated system, another row of bags for the bank, or another tab for Void Bank?
Is there any way you can make old world materials relevant for Professions again?
Any plans about implementing Pets and Mounts obtainable from PvP currency, or style items for currency?
