As of 03/11/07 the stats on this weapon are:

Thornspike
Binds when Picked up
One-Hand Dagger
20 - 46 Damage Speed 1.70
(20.6 damage per second)
+18 Agility
Durability 65/65
Requires Level 27

And no, that's no typo, this 1-hand dagger currently has 18 Agility, possibly a mistake, though that remains to be seen.

This is definately the best weapon if you are stacking agil, think of the possibilities, they are NOT unique so you can get 2 of them, thats 36 agility without enchants, the 2 weapons twink hunters usually get ( Sentinels blade 7 agil 3 stam) and the butcher 5 agil 4 stam ) even with the 2 +15 agility enchants only has 42, with 2 + 15 agility on the thornspike you have 66!!!!! agility total, thats amazing for this level or it leaves room for you to get intellect if you need mana

Grab 2 of these and put some +15 agility on them both makes a fine pair of daggers for a rogue twink.

Yes I just got 2 of them +8 agi but hey can't be to sad best dagger for a 29 twink pretty good DPS most highest AGi a dagger will give at this lvl and has nice damage best of yet like I said you can have 2 of them thats just damn bad ass lol sure may not be has fast as Vendetta but who cares.

Freaking sick, +18 agi? Man I love 2.3 so much, so much loot have been improved! Leveling is just THAT much more fun now when you just keep getting amazed at all the improved items.

As a 27 rogue I easily solo'd this boss for the daggers. Stealth in, open with cheap shot and dps him down, I ignored the boars he summoned and had to use evasion and a health pot. I couldn't kill the boars (too low health) so I vanished.

Also solo'd this at lv 27 rogue, it's a very good twink weapon if you are very low on gold, as I am.
He is not too tough, make sure you have evasion ready and one healing potion. Ignore the boars, they will vanish as soon as you will :)

Not really sure what I'm doing wrong... I got my first Thornspike from him earlier today with a group, and decided to give soloing him a go for my 2nd one.
So far after 2 kills all thats dropped is the exact same green mail bracers? I'll try killing him again but something seems fishy >_<

Edit: Nvm, it dropped on the 3rd kill :P So just to let all rogues know to bring a couple of pots in case they don't get the dagger on the first go.

My guess is that Blizz nerfed the item, if it did ever have those stats. One just dropped for me (I was curious why it was a white item, that's why I checked on it), and stats are as shown in the pic - a lvl 27 dagger, 15.6 dps.

was thinking of getting it cause of the agility and seemed to have nice dps but then i looked at the lvl 28 pvp dagger and realized that this thing is a piece of crap well my rogue is a twink so im getting very best but if u want a quick dagger while ur lvling then i wouldnt see y this would be ur pick

wow this is a lot better this used to be the only crappy piece of gear i had on my rogue, but now its worth a couple runs to get being a decent offhand dagger

I just got this today and it rocks as a offhand dagger with the best +8 agility on a dagger in this 20-29 bracket range. I have the Sentinel's as my main hand. If I could get +15 agility enchants on both... Right now I just have Fiery on both but still own in battlegrounds :) I give this a big thumbs up for this weapon.

this is a rally good pvp sword for different reasons...

1. it blunders armor...
2. it has exceptional dmg for lvl 27-3 or so
3.it is NOT better than Torturing Poker. i have that my twink rogue and it pwns pvp and if u get fiery chant it really adds up including that +5-7 fire dmg.
4. it looks koll! =)

I think this would be THE dagger to have in off hand for a 29 twink dagger rogue. Great upgrade from Vendetta for those looking to maximizing your agility (+ some DPS to boot). If you had this dagger in your inventory before the patch (white item), would it have automatically received the buff? I only ask 'cause I can't begin to think of how many times I've picked this dagger up in RFK pre-patch, only to vendor it.

Edit: hmm, Thornspike is SLOWER than Vendetta. This could mean something. But idk what it is... this is a tricky one! Any calculators out there? I almost want to say that the big V is better after all, as an OH dag.

The reason Thornspike isn't the prefered twink OH is because though more agi is nice the 1.3 speed on Vendetta makes it apply poisons more, crippling or mind numbing or instant all are very nice,1.3 speed is a very nice fast application, that is why the shadowmancer dagger is a good MH, because it is 1.9 speed slow high top end for ambush/backstab and has higher damage even with similar dps. Torturing poker is nice dps but the fire damage isn't multiplied with your ambush/backstab but if you want it is a fine weapon due to the high dps added from the fire proc, though 15 agi>firey for enchants.

the drop rate is near 95% ++++. at around 27-29 with a few points in Sub-master of disguise....stealth in with a higher level rogue or druid kill one guy. see what you get, go out, reset instance and repeat.

four of us rogue's in our guild have 4 or more of these each. with various enchants from Icy, Fiery, etc.

this wep has a rly good drop rate or its so that im very lucky, me and my buddy (we are both rogues) stealthed to the boss and killed him. we killed him 4 times and this wep dropped every time. we now got 2x each of this wep :D im lvl 27 and hes lvl 25

I just bought The Butcher for 31g and Diamond Hammer for 1g i was thinkin about using those weapons for my rogue.
this one look better than those.
should i sell Diamond Hammer and try to get Thornspike and use The Butcher on MH and Thornspike on OH?

Thornspike is apparently a good PvP weapon for level 29 Rogue Twinks for the simple fact that you can dual wield 2 of them, it gives +8 Agility, and it almost always drops. What better enchant to put on it but +15 agility to weapon? If you can afford that kind of Enchant, which varies (I play on Duskwood and am a 365 enchanter, so it costs around 130g). With more agility added to two of these, that is a nice +46 Agility.

% Critical Chance out the arse.

After 2.3, this dagger friggin' rocks. It's fast but not too fast, has great +agl stat, and best of all is not unique! Took me 3 tries to get two for my 29 rogue. Now I can save WSG marks for other pvp rewards. XD

Thornspike has been updated on PTR. It is now blue with 8 agi and 24-46 dmg. Req lvl 27.

Cheap and great dagger for leveling!

Here's an Ambush macro for combat rogues who will use a dagger in the off-hand for fast poison application:

#showtooltip Ambush
/equipslot 16 Thornspike
/equipslot 17 <weapon name>
/cast Ambush

You can reverse that to insta equip again Sinister Strike after the opening.
