Doesn't actually say if it's a physical strike or if this includes magical damage as well. I could see it being useful maybe if someone got the jump on you in PvP perhaps, but isn't all Naxx loot just a PvP playtoy anyhow?

Useful for multi-add tanking like at Fankriss, the debuff causes threat, but if you're in Naxx getting this shield and need help with Fankriss' adds, something isn't right :P

Perfect item for the flag carrier in WSG :)

Edit: Upon testing it would seem that it only procs on melee damage.

Yeah, Frakriss, and Gluth fight is the best thing in which this is for. Most guilds would give it to paladins if they know what it is used for, otherwise to PVPers.

Got this from Naxx the other night. I'm a holy paladin, but figured this would be nice for Warsong Gulch, when I'm running the flag. Tested it out a few times, and it is indeed nice for flag running and for really pissing off rogues in PvP. ;)

Sure would be nice to get an updated version of this shield for level 70. Would only make sense for it to be a pvp reward.

Wikipedia says that "Stygian" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stygian_%28disambiguation%29) Is a disambiguation for "The River Styx".

I could easily imagine this as a crest for a ship that patrols The River Styx... kinda looks like it's bent in the middle to allow it to be put on the front of a ship much like other ornaments usually placed on the front of ships, not to mention it has a "U" shape on top, which would allow it to be placed under the "Bowsprit" (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/Xycolian/7954.jpg) where most crests are usually located.

Just something interesting that I thought I would share with you all.

Yeah not a bad sheild at all, perfect for kiting in encounters like razorgore, although obviously anyone who can get this sheild really could sleepwalk thru sometihng like that, maybe some future or naxx encounter will require some good kiting.

Is an interesting one im still trying to figure out all the uses for it, sure WSG great for flag running. Warriors if you use them for razorgore it would be nice for it but even better for shaman kiters... but Blizz has announced that they are getting away from "Tank and spank encounters" and in Naxx theres supposed to be some interesting kite encounters (I.E I believe Patchwerk is one of them).

All in all I hope the were smart this time and made items needed for further encounters on the bosses before them (instead of AQ where NR came from bosses that needed NR >,<)

Hopefully some drop rates mob info be posted up soon eh.

Had the shield for over 2 weeks. Haven't seen the proc once.

Tested with DW warrior, no proc through multiple duels in an hour time.

This shield is not( or no longer is ) bugged, it procs a ton, it's probably the best shield to use against rogues and warriors, no one knows how to react when it procs, "wtf was that!" "where did you get that shield!"...

Dropped off trash in the Spider Wing for me today.
I'm a shaman playing on Dunemaul EU.
As I'm still in Naxx I haven't tried it out yet.
None of the warriors wanted it, so I decided to go for it, looks like it'll be nice for flag carrying and kiting, go me :o

Incredible for WSG flag carrying, as a paladin, it felt as if I was dropping Earthbind totems. Only meleers get slowed but it's godly if several dual-wielders are on you. Coupled with BoF, really makes a difference. All this for free since I downgraded, people thought I was getting it for the nexuses. Oh well.. :D

And the proc debuff is called Stygian Grasp, if you do a search you can see that it belongs to shadow school and is apparently dispellable.

This thing is insanly bright, from certain views. Took a long time for first proc (thought it was buged).

Just need more kitting encounters to make this shield usefull. Grats to the looters.

We had 2 drops of this on Earthen Ring. One in Deathknight wing, one in Abomination (<--this one mine:P). Lack stats but it adds 2000 to tankpoints so not that bad afterall.

This dropped for us from I think a deathknight captain or lord in naxx. It is an awesome flag carrying item for WSG.

After testing the proc we found it doesnt work from ranged hunter attacks and if my memory is right it didnt work against ranged spells either.

So basically it is awesome for keeping melee dps away from the person using it and it procs loads.

We dont use warriors to kite mobs at Razorgore anymore and we couldnt really think of anywhere else that warriors need to kite stuff so we let all palas and warriors bid on it and a paladin won for almost minumum dkp bid :p

This shield(and the other equipment with "Stygian" on it) is actually a reference to CONAN the barbarian.

Stygia was an evil nation in conan that worshiped snake demons and death.

Pretty fitting for Naxxramas.

It now looks more like the icon, they removed the bright golden glow from it, you can see the markings that were under the glow very clearly now, I think it looks better without the glow.

Such a worthless shield. We have had all trash items drop at least once (excluding the elemental pauldrons), this one twice. It went to a shaman once and a warrior once, both said they would never use it.

This seems like the perfect Paladin Pvp shield, since paladins are the only class in the game without a root or snare available to them through their skill sets.

This shield is great for a protection paladin in pvp. With redoubt and holy shield, this'll kill any melee.

If warriors would want it for pve or pvp, it's their first i guess tho...

No other class got the shaft that bad for slowing their opponent.

I don't think anyone should ever be allowed to cry about paladins getting the shaft, ever...ever..ever ever, when it comes to abilities.

There is an argument that this could be used as a PVE shiled. If a warrior has breached 7000 health unbuffed, has maxed out his defence to the point he'll gain no more and has the best shield related enchants this would be good on a boss. However, it would only be good against a boss whose damage is physical based. If it can proc off of attacks that are magic, you've reached the cap of resistance gear and have a high level of defence this shield could also be used by an off-tanl or by the main tank to slow damage.

Just think about it for a second: 15% is just over 1 in 6 hits. If the boss uses cleave like ability or an attack on area, having several of these can reduce this to every other hit. Reducing the damage taken by half for 5 seconds, every few seconds is a massive increase in PVE and if you've yet to realise this than you probably are the one who should stop playing the game.

For PVP this shield is also great but in reality only if you're going to capture the flag.

Some people (read: Mouarf) are stupid.

This shield has NO stats on it, no Int, no +Block, no Defense, no Stamina... it just has a passive effect. A passive effect that makes it an incredible PvP shield for Paladins, Shamans AND Warriors. The fact that you think this is a good tanking shield, the best even, shows that you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. The only time a tank would want this is for kiting something (like in the Razorgore encounter), or PvP.

That shield is useless in many conditions EXCEPT WHILE CARRYING A FLAG IN WSG.
And any warriors who would wear that with a flag would own.

paladin pvp shield ? obviously you r not in a guild that raids ... that's like the best shield EVER for a tank as far as i know. paladin shield ? without a single int ? with a single heal ? with a single mana regen ? sorry but i still can not stop laughing at the idea of a paladin getting this.

I have this shield, and think it looks awesome. Has the color of nothing else in the game, methinks . Golden and shines in all colors like the inside of a seashell. Very nice!
Tankwise this shield gives more tanking points then for instance the hakkar shield. But im sure the elementium bulwark bwl shield still poons thisone on tank points.
I did take the shield for pvp reasons though, and to my disappointment it seems to proc seldome :-S much less then 1in6 hits. Gonna test it a bit more before i say that for sure though...

Does this proc off of spells ? The description 'When struck has a 15% chance of reducing the attacker's movement speed by 50% for 5 secs. ' is a little vague about getting hit with spells.

The debuff caused by the shield doesn't stack with Wing Clip. This may indicate that it doesn't stack with other movement impairing effects.
